THEMBA (the movie) GRASSROOTS DISTRIBUTION CAMPAIGN |
|

The Global Call to action against Poverty (GCAP) was granted the opportunity to roll-out the screening of a movie called Themba in underprivileged communities throughout South Africa.
The local production ‘ tells the story of a local boy who triumphs against adversity and proves that with talent and determination dreams can come true.’ With the support of Amnesty International, the movie reached those that could not afford to pay for a viewing.
In November 2010, Refilwe Mashaba accompanied two staff members from GCAP South Africa in the Limpopo leg of the distribution campaign. Schools, hospitals and taverns in Polokwane, Tzaneen and Thohoyandou were visited during the trip. As a result over 150 learners, educators, churchgoers and elderly attended the movie screenings. |
